Release of RealGroup 2.0 – Create and edit groups in Entra ID
Our new my-IAM RealGroup service is now available. With the latest version RealGroup 2.0, Entra groups and group members can be read, created and edited.

What is my-IAM RealGroup
RealGroup is a new type of business service that is an important component of the my-IAM platform. Together with the service my-IAM RealIdentity, RealGroup forms the backbone for our group and identity management in the cloud.
The RealTalk technology is used to read groups and group members from various source systems, process them and make them available for other applications.
In the new release, the focus is on the display and management of Entra groups. This can be done via your own applications or our in-house innovative software solutions my-IAM PeopleConnect and the FirstWare IDM-Portal.
Creating, editing and deleting groups in Entra ID
The release of RealGroup 2.0 focuses on reading, creating, editing and deleting groups in Entra ID.
In practice: With the IAM solution FirstWare IDM Portal, you can view all Entra groups, edit M365 groups and group members and create new cloud groups – RealGroup works in the background. This is done quickly and effectively via the portal’s user-friendly interface. The IDM-Portal specializes in effective identity and access management in the cloud and in Active Directory.
my-IAM RealGroup ensures that all groups with owners and group members are searched for and displayed. When editing the groups, only M365 groups and security groups (cloud) are involved. It is also possible to add and remove members and owners in Entra groups.
In practice: In the my-IAM PeopleConnect app, RealTalk technology is used to display all groups that exist in Entra ID directly in MS Teams, including AD-synced groups, for example. You can search for all Entra groups and use these as distribution lists.
Further optimizations
Important technical optimizations have been implemented in version 2.0:
- This includes querying an information delta. There is a separate delta API for groups, members and owners.
- In addition, the query of groups via an ODATA interface was created. ODATA is a common format, or rather a completely separate interface, which differs from the common REST API through its ODATA standards. This is a complex filter that offers additional options, such as the contains search.
- Furthermore, the query of groups via the ID from the Active Directory has been implemented.
